Outtest vs Crazy Egg
Crazy Egg is mainly a behavior analytics tool. Heatmaps, scrollmaps, session recordings and surveys show what visitors do on a page, and its A/B testing lets you act on that with a visual editor or URL redirects. It scores tests on conversion goals such as clicks, form submissions and confirmation-page visits, using a chi-squared test.
Outtest skips the heatmaps and focuses on the testing loop. Its AI agents read your analytics and payment data, find where the funnel loses money, write the new version, run it and call the winner on revenue per visitor from tools like Stripe, Shopify or Paddle. It also tests trials, cancel flows, Meta ads and SEO. Crazy Egg has been around since 2005. Outtest is brand new and has no track record yet.

- You manage many sites or clients and want unlimited domains and seats on one plan.
- You're happy building variants yourself in a visual editor.
- Your conversion goal is a click, a form fill or a thank-you page, not revenue.
- You want a free plan for basic analytics and a 30-day trial before paying.
Pick Outtest if
- You want every test judged on revenue per visitor pulled from your payment tool.
- You want AI agents to choose what to test and write the new version, not only point at problem areas.
- You want to test pricing pages, trial length, cancel flows or Meta ad copy.
- You'd rather pay monthly from $29 than commit to an annual plan at $99 a month or more.
- You want a 5% holdout that checks what winners actually earned after launch.
The verdict
Crazy Egg is a good buy if you want to understand visitor behavior and run straightforward tests from the same dashboard. Outtest is the better fit if you want AI to run the testing and judge every result on money earned. Some teams could reasonably use Crazy Egg for heatmaps and Outtest for revenue-judged tests.
Questions people ask
How much does Crazy Egg cost?+
Paid plans are $29, $99, $249 and $599 a month (Starter, Plus, Pro and Enterprise), all billed annually. A free plan covers web analytics, instant heatmaps, conversion analytics and surveys. Prices checked on crazyegg.com on September 28, 2026.
Which Crazy Egg plan includes A/B testing?+
A/B testing starts on Plus at $99 a month, billed annually, with unlimited tests and variants. Starter doesn't include it. Targeting tests by country, UTM or conversion status needs Pro or Enterprise.
How does Crazy Egg pick an A/B test winner?+
Crazy Egg uses a chi-squared test to report the statistical significance of each variant against the others, alongside conversion rates over time. You can split traffic manually or let a multi-armed bandit shift traffic toward the better performer.
Does Crazy Egg charge overages?+
No. When you reach your monthly tracked pageviews, data collection pauses and resumes on the 1st of the next month. You can upgrade, or buy extra heatmap or recording capacity as an add-on through sales.
Can Crazy Egg measure revenue from A/B tests?+
Not from a payment tool directly. Its A/B goals are clicks, page visits, form submissions, ad pixel events and custom events. The Conversion Tracking API can send conversions with a monetary value from your own systems. Outtest, by comparison, judges every test on revenue per visitor from the payment tool.
