How Superwall charges
Superwall splits its product in two. The subscription infrastructure (entitlements, receipt validation, webhooks, revenue analytics and SQL access) is free at any scale, with no revenue threshold and no per-event fees. The paywall product, which includes the editor and experiments, is free up to $10k a month in paywall-attributed revenue, then 1% of paywall-attributed revenue.
Paywall-attributed means revenue that converts through a paywall Superwall renders. Subscription revenue that comes in some other way isn't charged.
Superwall's own examples
- An app making $50k a month with no Superwall paywalls in use pays $0 for the whole platform.
- The same app with half its revenue converting through Superwall paywalls pays 1% of that $25k, which is $250 a month.
A worked example for a small team
Take a small subscription app that earns $8,000 a month through its paywall. That's under the $10k line, so Superwall costs $0, including experiments.
Now say a few good tests push paywall revenue to $20,000 a month. Going by Superwall's $25k example, which charges 1% on the full paywall-attributed amount, the bill is 1% of $20,000, or $200 a month. Over a year that's $2,400.
What drives the bill
- Paywall revenue, not test count. You can run as many experiments as you like. What you pay tracks the money paywalls bring in.
- How much runs through Superwall. Revenue from paywalls you build yourself isn't counted.
- Growth. Double your paywall revenue and the fee doubles too. That's fair when tests are working, but worth modeling if you expect fast growth.
Costs beyond the invoice
- Engineering setup. Someone has to add the SDK and register placements once. After that, most changes need no app release.
- Payment processing. Stripe fees on web checkout are separate from Superwall's fee.
- Other tools. If you also use RevenueCat for purchases or analytics, it bills separately under its own pricing.
Is there a free trial?
Superwall doesn't offer a trial. It doesn't need one for most small apps, since the free tier covers everything until paywall revenue passes $10k a month.

Questions people ask
How much does Superwall cost?+
The subscription backend is free at any scale. The paywall product is free up to $10k a month in paywall-attributed revenue, then 1% of paywall-attributed revenue. Superwall's own example: an app with $25k a month of paywall revenue pays $250 a month.
Do I need to ship an app update to run a Superwall test?+
Not after setup. Engineers register placements in the SDK once, and after that paywalls and experiments are configured remotely, with no SDK upgrade or store submission for each test.
Can I use Superwall with RevenueCat?+
Yes. Superwall has guides for using RevenueCat to handle purchases, and RevenueCat can send purchase events to Superwall. Superwall also works on its own without any other SDK.
Does Superwall test websites?+
It has a web SDK for web paywalls and can send iOS users to a Stripe checkout. It's built around the paywall, though, not your marketing site, pricing page or ads.
Superwall or Outtest?+
They cover different parts of the funnel. Superwall tests native and web paywalls inside your app. Outtest tests websites, pricing pages, trials, cancel flows, Meta ads and SEO, judged on revenue per visitor from your payment tool, and doesn't test native app paywalls.
