What Shoplift does
Shoplift is an A/B testing app built for Shopify. You install it from the Shopify App Store and it adds a small tracking script to your theme, so there's no code to paste by hand. Tests use Shopify's own building blocks. You duplicate a template or a whole theme, make changes in the Shopify Theme Editor, and Shoplift splits traffic between the original and the variant.
Test types
The docs list five test types. Template tests change one page type, such as the product page for a group of products. Theme tests change the whole store, including navigation and cart. URL redirect tests compare two separate pages. Price tests update the price shown on product pages, collection pages and in the cart, and Shoplift says the right price carries through to checkout. JavaScript API tests are for developers writing custom experiments. Price testing, subscription testing, campaigns and personalization sit on the Advanced plan.
Results and statistics
Shoplift tracks conversions server-side, collecting cart and order data directly from Shopify, and it credits orders to a variant even when the shopper buys days later on a return visit. Goals include revenue per visitor, add-to-cart, click rate and bounce rate. The pricing page describes the analysis as Bayesian and says it predicts how long a test needs, in real time. Core segments results by device. Advanced adds referral domain, channel, UTM and country.
Lift Assist
Lift Assist is the AI-assisted part, available on Advanced and Pro. It recommends tests, and when you pick one, it duplicates your template and inserts a matching theme section, such as a sticky cart, countdown timer or inventory indicator. It scans your store's colors and fonts to style those sections. You then review and edit the variant in the Theme Editor before it goes live.
Speed and flicker
Shoplift uses an anti-flicker script that briefly blanks the page while a test loads. It says this typically clears within 150 milliseconds, and that the app lowers Google's page speed score by about 2 to 4 points. For most stores that's a fair trade, but it's worth checking on your own theme.
Limits
It's Shopify only, and its FAQ says headless storefronts built with Hydrogen or Next.js aren't supported, because Shoplift relies on Shopify's theme system to inject tests. Plans are capped by total monthly store visitors, not just visitors in tests. Go over and your tests pause until you upgrade or the billing cycle resets. Core isn't offered above 100k monthly visitors, and one-click apply for winners is limited to stores under that size.
Who it suits
Shoplift fits Shopify brands on a standard theme that want steady, no-code testing of templates and themes, with revenue per visitor as the scoreboard. Brands whose main questions are about prices, shipping and offers may also want to look at Intelligems, and businesses off Shopify need a different tool altogether.
Pros and cons
What Shoplift does well
- Variants are real Shopify templates or themes edited in the Theme Editor, so there's no new page builder to learn.
- Reports revenue per visitor, order value and conversion rate from Shopify order data, including orders placed days later on a return visit.
- Lift Assist suggests tests and inserts ready-made theme sections, styled to your brand, into a new variant.
- Bayesian analysis with a live prediction of how long a test needs to run.
- Price and subscription testing on the Advanced plan.
- 14-day free trial on every plan.
Where it falls short
- Shopify only, and headless storefronts built with Hydrogen or Next.js aren't supported.
- Price testing, Lift Assist and advanced segmentation need Advanced, from $399/month or $299 billed annually.
- Visitor limits count every store visitor, not just those in tests, and tests pause if you go over.
- Core isn't available above 100k monthly visitors.
- Shoplift says its script lowers Google's page speed score by about 2 to 4 points.
Questions people ask
How much does Shoplift cost?+
Core is $99 a month ($74 billed annually) for up to 50k monthly store visitors, and $199 ($149) for 50k to 100k. Advanced starts at $399 a month ($299 billed annually), and Pro, which is annual only, starts at $699 a month. Every plan has a 14-day free trial.
Does Shoplift work with headless Shopify stores?+
No. Its FAQ says headless storefronts built with custom frontends like Hydrogen or Next.js aren't supported, because Shoplift relies on Shopify's theme system to inject tests.
Can Shoplift test prices?+
Yes, on the Advanced plan and above. Shoplift updates the price visitors see on product pages, collection pages and in the cart, and says the correct price carries through to checkout.
What statistics does Shoplift use?+
Shoplift's pricing page describes Bayesian predictive analysis that also predicts how long a test needs to run. Results cover revenue per visitor, add-to-cart rate, click rate, bounce rate and more.
What happens if I go over my Shoplift visitor limit?+
Your tests pause and visitor data collection stops until you upgrade or your billing cycle resets. Limits count total store visitors, not only the visitors in tests.
