What Unbounce does
Unbounce is a landing page builder for marketers and agencies. You start from one of 100+ templates or a blank page, edit in a drag-and-drop builder, add forms, popups and sticky bars, and publish to Unbounce hosting or your own domain. Lead gen forms come with every plan. Custom scripts, multi-step forms and AI copywriting start on the Build plan.
How A/B testing works
Testing lives inside each page. You create variants, give each one a traffic weight, and Unbounce randomly serves a variant to each new visitor. A cookie makes sure a returning visitor sees the same version. The Experiment plan and above include unlimited tests, unlimited variants and manual traffic allocation.
Results show up in the A/B Test Center as a conversion rate and a confidence rating. Unbounce's documentation says the rating comes from a chi-square test, and that 95% confidence is enough to promote a variant to champion or discard it. It also suggests waiting about two weeks before reading results. Promoting the winner is your call.
A conversion is the goal you set on the page, usually a form submission or a click on a call to action. There is no built-in link to a payment tool, so a test tells you which page gets more leads, not which one brings in more revenue.
Smart Traffic
Smart Traffic, on the Optimize plan, is the AI part. Instead of crowning one winner, it looks at visitor attributes such as device, location and browser, and routes each person to the variant most likely to convert visitors like them. Unbounce says it can start routing after as few as 50 visits. It suits campaigns with several variants where you don't want to wait for a classic test to finish, but it still optimizes for the page's conversion goal.
AI and integrations
AI copywriting comes with Build and above. Unbounce also runs an MCP server, available on every plan, that connects Claude and ChatGPT to your account so an assistant can build pages, run A/B tests, deploy winning variants, turn on Smart Traffic and pull reports.
The integrations list is built around marketing and CRM tools: HubSpot, Salesforce, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Marketo, Zapier, Google Analytics 4 and Insightly CRM, which Unbounce bought in July 2024.
Limits to know about
Plans are capped by monthly visitors, users and root domains. Experiment allows 30,000 visitors, 3 users and 2 root domains. Optimize allows 50,000 visitors, 5 users and 3 root domains. If you go over, your pages keep running and Unbounce bills a one-time overage fee. The two cheapest plans don't include A/B testing at all.
The bigger limit is scope. Unbounce tests pages built in Unbounce. Your main website, product pages, checkout, pricing page and app onboarding stay outside it unless you rebuild them there.
Who it suits
Unbounce is a solid choice for paid media teams and agencies that launch many campaign pages and measure success in leads. If you sell online and care about revenue per visitor, or you want to test the site you already have, you'll need a different tool or a second one alongside it.
Pros and cons
What Unbounce does well
- Builder, hosting, forms and A/B testing in one tool, so a marketer can ship a new variant without a developer.
- Unlimited A/B tests and variants on the Experiment plan and above.
- Smart Traffic routes each visitor to a best-match variant and, according to Unbounce, can start after as few as 50 visits.
- 100+ templates, plus dynamic text replacement to match landing page copy to ad keywords.
- An MCP server on every plan lets Claude or ChatGPT build pages, launch tests and pull reports.
- 14-day trial with no credit card.
Where it falls short
- Tests only run on pages built in Unbounce, not on your main site, store, checkout or app.
- A/B testing needs the $149/month Experiment plan. Starter and Build don't include it.
- Conversions are form submissions, clicks and similar goals, with no payment-tool connection, so tests aren't judged on revenue.
- Visitor caps are fairly low for the price (30,000 on Experiment), and going over adds a one-time overage charge.
- You read the confidence rating and promote the winner yourself. The docs suggest waiting about two weeks.
Questions people ask
How much does Unbounce cost?+
Unbounce costs $29, $99, $149 or $249 a month for its Starter, Build, Experiment and Optimize plans, or 25% less on yearly billing ($22, $74, $112 and $187 a month). Concierge and Agency plans are custom. Prices checked on unbounce.com on September 28, 2026.
Does every Unbounce plan include A/B testing?+
No. Starter and Build don't include A/B testing. Unlimited A/B testing starts on the Experiment plan at $149 a month ($112 billed yearly), and Smart Traffic needs the Optimize plan.
What is Unbounce Smart Traffic?+
Smart Traffic is Unbounce's AI traffic routing. Instead of picking one winner, it sends each visitor to the landing page variant most likely to convert visitors with similar attributes, such as device, location and browser. It's included on the Optimize plan.
Can Unbounce A/B test my existing website?+
No. Unbounce tests landing pages you build in Unbounce. You can publish those pages to your own domain or WordPress site, but pages built elsewhere, like your Shopify store or main site, aren't part of its tests.
Does Unbounce measure revenue in A/B tests?+
Not out of the box. A conversion in Unbounce is the goal you set on the page, such as a form submission or a button click, and its integrations list doesn't include payment tools like Stripe or Shopify. Outtest, by contrast, judges every test on revenue per visitor from the payment tool.
Is there an Unbounce free trial?+
Yes. Every plan has a 14-day trial with no credit card. The trial is limited to one user, no custom domains and some traffic restrictions.
